Springbrook

Springbrook is a park by Guthrie Center IA. The 5th graders at Stanton Elementary have been going there for an overnight field trip for the past 5 years. This past May it was Matthew's turn and he had a great time hiking, kayaking, doing archery, dissecting owl pellets, campfires and on and on.
I was fortunate enough to go with his class and a couple of years ago with Charlie's class.
I drove seven fifth grade boys to the park. That was an experience in itself!

Building a survival shelter
                                                          Bird banding was really cool

Summer Fun

Here it is the end of August and I will finally post something. Maybe I can do better than 2 times a year???

The summer went by so fast. Baseball, a little camping and raising pigs for the fair.

The boys walked their pigs to get them ready for the show and did well. Matthew brought home some trophies, and both boys received purple and blue ribbons.

We finished off the summer with a trip to Wilber and the annual Czech days festival. Family, food, beer and parades are a plenty.

Bye bye summer....see you next year!

Relay For Life

The kids had a Relay For Life event at their school today to raise money for cancer research. They had planned activities all day and at the end of the day, they posed for a photo.

Spring Musical

Friday was also our schools elementary spring musical. We left the track meet early to get back to Stanton so we could see Matthew perform. The kids sang, did dance moves, and put on small skits. Nice job Matthew and soon you will be out of elementary school.

Track Meet

Charlie had a track meet on Friday.  This is our first year of junior high track. There are usually 6-8 schools that attend and his meets are usually boys and girls. They last anywhere from 4-6 hours. Charlie ran the 100m, the 400m and the 4X100m relay at this meet. I love running and running events so it is great to see him being a part of it .   Way to go Charlie !

I know I haven't posted in FOREVER, and thought I even forgot how.
I'm going to try and do better :o)

I want to post lots of pictures and the computer doesn't always want to cooperate with me!

TRY-athalon

Chuck and I belong to the Kiwanis Club of Red Oak, and we held our 3rd annual TRY-athalon today. It consists of swimming 800 meters, biking 6 miles and running/walking 2 miles. It is a fundraiser for the Y and the Trails committee and encourages families to get out and exercise together.  The rain held off this morning, and we had a good turn out. This year was special for me because Matthew completed the entire thing himself . Way to go---you did super!
